Arthur Zatarain, PE, began consulting when he founded Dataran Corporation in 1980. The New Orleans based engineering firm served industrial, oilfield, and medical clients for product development, electrical power, industrial control, and instrumentation. In addition to general engineering services, Dataran performed hardware and software development for personal computers during their initial integration into industry and business.

Dataran was acquired by TEST Automation & Controls in 1988 to form the basis of TEST's technical services division. Arthur remained with the company for 20 years in a series of executive positions while continuing to consult for the company's international customer base as well as private clients.

Arthur has completed over fifty engagements as an expert witness since he began forensic consulting in 1997. He retired from TEST as Vice President in 2008, and now supports end-users, attorneys, and insurers exclusively through Artzat Consulting.
